£300,000 awarded to projects in Amman and Gwendraeth Valleys

PROJECTS in the Amman and Gwendraeth Valleys have been awarded over £300,000 in Welsh Government funding this week.

More than £100,000 has been set aside for works at the rail crossing area on Quay Street in Ammanford.

A further £120,000 will be spent on environmental and visitor enhancements at Kidwelly Quay.

The valleys will benefit from another £100,000 for the Sustainable Hubs Project.

Announcing the funding yesterday Minister for Housing Regeneration and Heritage, Huw Lewis, said: "The funding supports regeneration commitments, particularly developing our town centres and encouraging tourism."

It is part of The Welsh Government's Western Valleys Regeneration Area programme.

Since 2009 it has seen around 220 projects awarded have £23.8 million in funding.
